One Year Ago

I've been looking back through our pictures from Oklahoma, remembering some fun times we had while we were there. I came across some pictures of the flooding that happened last year at this time.

Background Info: Spencer worked for OSU at a multi-million dollar waste treatment facility at a hog farm. As glamorous as this sounds, it was quite a frustrating job. He discovered a lot of expensive problems, but didn't have the funds and support to fix many of them.

This is a lagoon of hog waste. After all the crazy rain, this is what the lagoon looked like. Pretty scary!
Spencer bought a pump to work on lowering the level of the lagoon.
When we came back the next day, this is what we saw. We were quite shocked, and a little confused at the amount the lagoon had dropped in less than 24 hours.
After further investigation, we discovered a BIG'OL leak in the lagoon, caused by all that extra pressure from the rain water. All the "water" that was now missing from the hog lagoon had flooded the field below (which had a creek at the other side, in those trees). We figure about 1/2 million gallons was drained out before the leak was plugged.
This is a street in Stillwater that was completely covered with several feet of water.
